A Colleague...
...at BCCC called me "kiddo" the other day. I'm still not sure how I feel about this.
I teach English (mostly developmental and freshman composition) at Branch Campus of a Community College (BCCC) and Branch Campus of a Major University (BCMU). Sometimes funny things happen. Sometimes infuriating things happen. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

I've caught myself refering to our our brand new (young) teachers, "Those kids who are teaching such and such subject..." I don't know how I feel about that either. It's obviously so WRONG. Sorry.
I suppose it depends on who is calling you kiddo, and the sex of the person calling you kiddo, and whether it was meant affectionately. I am Appalachian, and we tend to use a lot of endearments in our conversations, but I am not sure that Kiddo is an expression of endearment. It's not very professional, but, I don't get upset over things like that. Life is too short. :-)

I wrote about this in my own blog in the entry above.
